Fire Alarm Servers
To connect Fire Alarms to the Fire Brigade and ALARMSWITCH using broadband, a Fire
Alarm interface server is required to be installed. This server converts
protocols like SGD and manufacturer’s proprietary formats to open standard CSV
or XML. Once connected via a Fire Alarm server the Private Fire Alarm (PFA) or
the Sprinkler Direct Brigade Alarm (DBA) can pass extended Alarm data such as
zone and point information directly to the Fire Brigade. The Broadband
modem/router that Fire Alarm servers are associated with, are also powered from
an alarm power server unit (APSU) to ensure network connectivity and reliability
is beyond 99.7%. All of this equipment together is mounted into a secure service
demarcation point (SDP) and becomes the Fire Alarm Network Access Device (NAD)
